A full day of Finnish Wind Power

On May 14th 2024 Wind Finland Offshore brings together specialists of the wind power industry in Helsinki. 

The seminar will gather over 300 guests in Pikku-Finlandia to share new ideas and learn from our twelve top speakers about the latest winds in offshore development. Cocktails and a networking dinner follow the seminar day making it a full day of wind power within the industry.

Anna Häger

Anna is Regional Manager at the Nordic energy company Ilmatar Energy. Founded in 2011, Ilmatar focuses solely on renewable energy in business areas including project development, construction, maintenance, independent power production, and long-term ownership of production facilities. As Regional Manager, Anna Häger leads the company´s development of offshore wind power in the Gulf of Bothnia.

 Prior to this, she was the Head of Citizen & Stakeholder Engagement and the second employee at energy innovation and project development company Flexens Oy Ab, where she developed and implemented the energy demo platform Smart Energy Åland, a testbed to pilot and demonstrated a full renewable energy system. Häger holds an MSc in Sustainable Development specialising in Energy and Water Management, and her thesis focused on investigating the municipal governance leadership’s role in the energy transition in island landscapes.

Häger is an appreciated public speaker and panelist, political advisor, member of the World Energy Council net work Future NEegry Leaders in Finland,  and a proud EU Climate Pact Ambassador. She is passionate about stakeholder engagement and facilitating the future energy system transition towards renewable energy sources with clear communication and engagement between multilevel stakeholders in a bottom-up and top-down perspective.

Kai Mykkänen

Minister of Climate and the Environment – The Government of Finland

Kai is the Minister of Climate and the Environment of Finland since June 2023. Prior to this, he was the Chairman of the Parliamentary Group of the National Coalition Party. Mykkänen has worked as the Minister of Foreign Trade and Development 2016-2018 and as the Minister of Interior 2018-2019. He was also in response of the National Coalition’s energy policy under the previous government. Mykkänen has also worked for instance at Sampo Bank in Russia, at the East Office of Finnish Industries in St. Petersburg and at the Confederation of Finnish Industries in Helsinki.

Mykkänen describes himself as a pro-market, pro-environment reformer. Finland has decided to ban the use of coal by 2030. Mykkänen took the initiative, and he was also in response of National Coalitions’ energy and climate issues.

Anni is leading wind power experts in Finland. She holds a master’s decrees in Environmental Sciences (MSc) and in Corporate Environmental Management (M. Econ).

Eva is the director of the Environment & Sustainability Unit of the Business Area Wind in Vattenfall. Her team supports BA Wind in Environment & Sustainability operational and strategic questions within Offshore, Onshore, Solar and Battery projects in Northern & Western Europe. Eva Julius-Philipp is a biologist and worked > 10 years in science before joining Vattenfall Wind in 2012. Her theoretical & practical experience covers a wide range of Environment & Sustainability topics on biodiversity, GHG emissions, circularity and social sustainability in renewable energy throughout the full lifecycle of assets.

BSAG is a Finnish non-profit organization whose goal is to save the Baltic Sea, mitigate climate change and protect biodiversity.

Tim is a marine ecologist by education with a PhD in marine habitat restoration and monitoring. In his current role, he is involved in a variety of offshore wind projects where he contributes to tenders on ecology topics, EIAs, R&D projects including pilot studies on multi-use, and marine monitoring with a special focus on fish and benthic communities.

Among onshore maintenance projects, Sarens works in the offshore wind sector, with specialized expertise in logistics, port marshalling and installation operations. Erik is Business Manager offshore wind in Eemshaven. Eemshaven breathes offshore wind and has become one of the leading ports in the offshore wind industry around the North Sea. Since 2009 this northern Netherlands port plays an important role regarding assembly and shipping activities of wind turbines.

Eemshaven is within close nautical distance to the wind farms in the German Bight (North Sea). Already 19 windfarms were partly launched from Eemshaven and 4 windfarms have their O&M activities organized from the port. At the moment Eemshaven serves as base port for the Gode Wind 3, Borkum Riffgrund 3 and He Dreiht offshore wind farms. Eemshaven offers both public and private quays, public and private jetties and there is still land which can be leased available.

Before joining the port in 2005 Erik was dealing with logistics in containers, terminals and rail.

Sonja has 25 years of bank experience, mainly in project finance. At KfW IPEX-Bank since 2001, she has been structuring and arranging project finance and corporate transactions in the renewable sector inter alia onshore wind deals in the Nordics, offshore wind deals in Germany and corporate deals for turbine manufacturers. Prior to KfW IPEX-Bank, Sonja worked as a project manager at Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein with a focus on project finance in oil and gas in Central and Eastern Europe. Sonja holds an Economics degree (including a degree in Russian literature and Geography) from University of Tübingen.
