A full day of Finnish Wind Power

Our main event – Wind Finland is the most significant event in Finland dedicated to wind power. With over 700 participants from over 12 countries, the event provides an opportunity to meet other people in the industry and learn from the latest winds. Cocktails and an Evening Event with dinner and entertainment follow the seminar day making it a full day of wind power and networking within the industry.

Wind Finland hosted a wind power recruiting event

This year in Wind Finland, a recruiting was organized besides the seminar to attract new talents to the wind power industry! The recruitment event brought job-seekers together with companies in the wind power sector, giving companies the opportunity to showcase their career opportunities and find new talents.

Giles Dickson is the CEO of WindEurope. WindEurope is the voice of the European wind industry. It represents the whole value chain of onshore and offshore wind across Europe and has more than 500 members. It engages Governments and other stakeholders on policy and regulation. It organises industry exhibitions, conferences and workshops. And it coordinates publicly-funded R&D in wind.  

Kai Mykkänen

Minister of Climate and Environment – The Government of Finland

Kai Mykkänen is the Minister of Climate and the Environment of Finland since June 2023. Prior to this, he was the Chairman of the Parliamentary Group of the National Coalition Party. Mykkänen has worked as the Minister of Foreign Trade and Development 2016-2018 and as the Minister of Interior 2018-2019. He was also in response of the National Coalition’s energy policy under the previous government. Mykkänen has also worked for instance at Sampo Bank in Russia, at the East Office of Finnish Industries in St. Petersburg and at the Confederation of Finnish Industries in Helsinki. 

Mykkänen describes himself as a pro-market, pro-environment reformer. Finland has decided to ban the use of coal by 2030. Mykkänen took the initiative, and he was also in response of National Coalitions’ energy and climate issues.

Anni Mikkonen is the CEO of the Finnish Wind Power Association since 2009. During her time the association and the importance of wind power in the Finnish energy sector have increased significantly. Anni is leading wind power experts in Finland. She holds a master’s decrees in Environmental Sciences (MSc) and in Corporate Environmental Management (M. Econ).

Vivi Mathiesen has more than 20 years’ professional experience from the Nordic and European electricity markets, i.a. as Head of wholesale markets for the Norwegian Regulatory Authority, and as project manager for the Nordic Council of Ministers championing the integration of Nordic electricity markets. In Heimdall Power, Vivi is responsible for regulatory affairs and represents the company in CurrENT, the European association for innovative grid technologies. 

Heimdall Power is a leading technology company who delivers real time observability and situational awareness for grid operators, coupling software and advanced sensor technology to optimize operations.

Simo Säynevirta

Simo Säynevirta has over 30 years track record of innovation in energy sector, manufacturing, process industry and industrial digitalization. Currently Säynevirta heads ABB’s Green Electrification ecosystem program and serves as the chairman of the Hydrogen Cluster Finland. In 2022, Säynevirta was elected as the “CTO of the Year” in Finland

Antti Harjula

Antti Harjula works in Fingrid as manager of Power System Engineering unit. Antti has over 15 years of experience with power system planning, wind power integration studies and system technical performance analysis. He was project manager of the dynamic line rating (DLR) pilot project in Fingrid and has steered the work on DLR also after the project.

Dr Hannele Holttinen is currently RDI Lead, Energy systems at CLIC Innovation Oy. Through her own consultancy Recognis Oy she is coordinating international research on grid integration at IEA WIND (Task 25), and at G-PST (Global Power System Transformation Consortium).

She has her MSc and PhD from Helsinki Technical University (Aalto), where she is Docent since 2014. She worked previously at VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland in different fields of wind energy and energy system integration research, active at international networks of IEA Wind and European Wind Energy Platforms ETIP and TPWIND as well as Nordic energy research.

Claudia Hain is managing director and co-founder of the storage technology company Wolf Energetik GmbH, based in Dresden/Germany. The engineering specialists develop large-scale electricity and hydrogen storage systems for diverse applications in the energy system. As a lawyer trained in environmental and administrative law and municipal economics, she has been supporting the patent holding company bw-energiesysteme in the serial development of technology companies (SunCoal Industries, thermea.Energiesysteme, Sunfire) based on patented key technologies since 2010. The Berliner is passionate about the transition of technologies into industrial use for the conversion of the energy industry to renewable energy.

He has significant experience on new green value proposition commercialization, including bioeconomy innovations, hydrogen derivatives, battery value chain, circularity, industrial decarbonization and cleantech machinery.
